The industrial sector was responsible for 9.0 gigatons of CO2 emissions in 2022, representing 25% of global energy system emissions. A 2023 Omdia survey commissioned by Rockwell Automation reveals significant variations in energy management maturity across manufacturing companies, with 31% having fully deployed solutions across multiple facilities, 26% still in proof-of-concept stages, and 43% operating with fragmented site-level programs. Key optimization priorities include machine and asset optimization, process optimization and analytics, and energy auditing, while major barriers include legacy assets, inadequate skills, and lack of organizational commitment. Effective energy management offers substantial benefits including cost savings, reduced emissions, and improved energy security, making it critical for manufacturers to advance their energy management maturity levels.
